KATY CALDWELL AND ELENA MARKS ENDORSEMENTS REFLECT GROWING SUPPORT AMONG WOMEN
HOUSTON, TX – Support for Chris Hollins for Mayor continues to spread across Houston with the latest endorsements from two women healthcare executives. Today, Katy Caldwell, Executive Advisor and former CEO of Legacy Community Health Services, and Elena Marks, President and CEO of the Episcopal Health Foundation, announced their support for Hollins.
“I’m excited to endorse Chris Hollins to be the next mayor of Houston. Katy Caldwell is an Executive Advisor and former CEO of Legacy Community Health Services, the largest federally qualified health center in Texas. Caldwell oversaw Legacy’s expansion of services from HIV care to offering more than 20 medical and behavioral health specialties. A community health trailblazer and Houston native, Caldwell served as Harris County Treasurer from 1991-1994, and currently serves on the board of Anti-Defamation League. She was recently an honoree named in the Houston Business Journal’s Most Admired CEO Awards.
“Houston is filled with limitless potential, and I’m excited to see where a mayor like Chris Hollins will take it,” said Marks. “He’s a transformative leader whose innovative approach towards management was on display as a former Harris County Clerk. Fostering a healthy Houston requires direction and creative solutions, and Chris is up for the challenge.”
Elena Marks recently announced her retirement as president and chief executive officer of the Episcopal Health Foundation. She will continue to lead the $1.3 billion Houston-based nonprofit upon selection of her successor. Marks is also a nonresident fellow in health policy at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, where her work focuses on health reform and access to care for low-income and uninsured populations. Marks serves on the boards of Grantmakers in Health, Harris Health System, Community Health Choice, and previously served as the director of health and environmental policy for the City of Houston.
Caldwell and Marks join Dr. Polly Sparks Turner as key endorsements from Houston’s public health community.
