Hollins and local pastors discuss the faith community’s role in moving Houston forward at prayer breakfast; Dr. Marcus Cosby joins campaign as spiritual advisor
HOUSTON, TX – Mayoral candidate Chris Hollins hosted a prayer breakfast this weekend to engage local pastors on the role of faith leaders in Houston’s progress. The discussion covered a range of topics, including economic opportunity, building safer neighborhoods, and supporting working families.
“The Black church is rooted in the pursuit of justice and equality, and Houston’s progress as a thriving, diverse city rests on continued advocacy and engagement from the faith community,” said Hollins. “The dialogue we had with esteemed faith leaders was insightful and made clear the need to work hand-in-hand with faith leaders to develop a policy agenda that will move all of Houston forward.”
As a result of the morning conference, Hollins received endorsements from five pastors:

Hollins continued, “These endorsements from respected faith leaders reflect the widespread enthusiasm for our campaign, and I’m honored to have the support of those who have committed their lives to uplifting others in our society.”
Dr. Marcus Cosby also joined the campaign as spiritual advisor to Hollins and his family. “The challenges facing Houston are too important for the faith community to excuse ourselves, and too complex to tackle solely from the pulpit,” said Dr. Cosby. “Chris has a vision for progress that embraces every Houstonian, including the least among us in our most underserved communities. His eagerness to engage the faith community is a reflection of his commitment to moral leadership and inclusive approach to moving Houston forward.”
Hollins serves on the board of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston and heavily leaned on the faith community to defend democracy and increase voter access during his time as Harris County Clerk, with his outreach resulting in 100+ churches, Jewish and Islamic community centers, and other religious sites serving as voting locations. He has proactively engaged faith leaders since launching his mayoral campaign, visiting over a dozen houses of worship and earning an early endorsement from Rev. William A. Lawson.
